Improve your Radio Reception from Capital 101.7FM

The community radio licence is issued by the Australian  Cpommunications and Media Authority on 101.7MHz on the FM band, to 6SEN Capital Community Radio (now known as Capital 101.7FM).  Whilst our increased coverage of the Perth metropolitan area should not require you to do anything but tune in to us on your radio dial, the following points may help if your reception is not as you would like it to be:

• If you live out of line of sight from our transmitter atop Wireless Hill, in Ardross (Perth), reception can be improved with a vertical external antenna, externally, or inside your home, such as often found on portable radios.

• OR ... you could try "LISTEN LIVE" on the Internet from our website.   Just go to the website ... http://www.capitalcommunityradio.com, and click on the "LISTEN LIVE" button.
  - and at the website you can also click on the text "LISTENING LIVE? ... WHERE FROM?  PLEASE TELL US ..."
    and tell us your location information, so we know where on Earth our Internet listeners are.

You can also try the following inside your home to improve reception on your radio:

• If your radio has a telescopic aerial, extend it fully.

• Moving the radio to another part of the room can often improve reception.

• Turn the radio around, say, 90 degrees, this often is all that is needed.

• If you have a radio or system including a radio with an FM antenna connection at the rear, then attach an FM radio antenna (normally a T shaped flat 2-wire ribbon type cable), typically available from electronics specialty shops such as Dick Smith Electronics, Tandy Electronics, etc, usually also supplied with kit when purchasing your radio.
  - you could also connect this radio FM antenna connection to your TV antenna, via a TV antenna "splitter", again an item available from stores such as Disck Smith Electronics, Tandy Electronics, etc.

• We broadcast our programmes in FM stereo, if your radio has a mono/stereo switch, switching it to "mono" may reduce background noise.

In car radios, the signal should be easy to pick up on the FM band in stereo throughout all of the Perth metropolitan area.

• Extend your car radio aerial if necessary.
